Ft. Freeform’s ’31 Days of Halloween’ & Cream Cheese Swirled Pumpkin Bread
Happy Friday, everyone! How is it October?? I think the only thing scarier than last Tuesday’s debate is how fast this year is going. If only this pizza place delivered to LA. Cheers to Halloween, cheers to the Lakers and cheers to the friken’ weekend (I’ll drink a pumpkin spice latte to that!)
However you’re planning on spending your weekend, enjoy these quarantivities! And as always, please add your own activities to the list!

Freeform’s ’31 Days of Halloween’
Watch this if you’re feeling spooky:
We may not be able to celebrate Halloween in the traditional sense this year, but at least we still have Freeform’s 31 Days of Halloween to get us in the spooky spirit. The channel kicked off their annual movie marathon last night with Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (I knew I wasn’t the only one who thought that movie was creepy AF growing up) and will air a new festive flick each night through October 31st.
This year’s schedule is packed with fan favorites like Ghostbusters, Nightmare Before Christmas, Beetlejuice, and more. Oh, and of course no Halloween movie marathon would be complete without Hocus Pocus. Along with the nightly feature film, Freeform will also be airing throughout the day – some days even beginning as early as 7 a.m. – so you can get your spook on almost 24/7. Don’t have cable? You can also stream Freeform via their app, website, or through various other subscription services such as Hulu+ and SlingTV. Spooktacular!
Stream it via Freeform or check out this article for all the ways to watch if you don’t have cable!
‘Enola Holmes’
Watch this if you’re feeling sleuth-y:
You’ve heard of Sherlock Holmes, but did you know that he had a sister? In her biggest non-Stranger-Things-related role, Millie Bobby Brown stars as Enola Holmes in the Netflix movie of the same name. After her mother disappears on the morning of Enola’s 16th birthday, she travels to London to get to the bottom of the mystery, (apparently sleuthing runs in the family) enlisting the help of a runaway lord along the way.
Although this certainly isn’t the first Sherlock Holmes adaptation to hit our screens, it is the first one to sideline Sherlock and instead put a female character at the forefront of the detective work. Although a very chiseled Sherlock (Henry Cavill) does make several appearances throughout, it’s Brown that shines in this lighthearted adventure perfectly suited for your weekend watching. Oh, and did I mention that Brown also co-produced the movie and that she is literally 16?? Yeah, well, I make my own Tik Toks! So who’s the real producer now, Millie?
Stream it via Netflix.

‘His Only Wife’ by Peace Adzo Medie
Read this if you loved ‘Crazy Rich Asians’:
Described as the “Crazy Rich Asians for West Africa,” His Only Wife centers around Afi, a young Ghanaian woman who agrees to an arranged marriage to help support her family after her father passes away. As far as arranged marriages go, her husband Elikem doesn’t seem too bad. He’s wealthy, successful, and lives in the affluent capital, Accra, which is a far cry from Afi’s small town she grew up in. There’s just one condition to the marriage: Elikem’s mother hopes Afi can distract him from his mistress, whom she doesn’t approve of. Is a comfortable lifestyle worth the stress? Afi’s not so sure.
