ft. The Trial of the Chicago 7 & Voldemort’s Dark Serum
We did it — we made it to another weekend! Congrats to us and congrats to our Lakers! In this week’s 2020 happenings, Chipotle’s Boorito is going digital, Megan Thee Stallion is continuing to be a savage by speaking up, and Alex Trebek is entering the rap game.
Please, vote and vote early, and however you’re planning on spending your weekend, enjoy these quarantivities!

‘The Trial of the Chicago 7’
Watch this if you love a good courtroom drama and are sick of Law & Order re-runs:
Packed with an all-star cast (Eddie Redmayne, Sacha Baron Cohen, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and more!), Aaron Sorkin’s The Trial of the Chicago 7 hit Netflix today, just in time for your Friday night bingeing pleasure. The 60s historical drama tells the story of the Chicago Seven, a group of political activists who participated in the 1968 anti-Vietnam War protests at the Democratic National Convention. Although many of them didn’t even know each other, they were all charged by the Nixon admin with conspiracy and incitement to riot after the protests turned violent.
As one of the only movies to actually come out recently, needless to say, I’ve been waiting for this one’s release for a while. If you’re in desperate need for some new movie content like I am, check out The Trial of the Chicago this weekend. Or, you could always just watch Adam Sandler’s Hubie Halloween instead. I don’t judge — live your lives, people!
Stream it via Netflix.
‘Emily in Paris’
Watch this because it’s the closest you’ll be getting to Paris this year:
Although Emily in Paris has been out for a few weeks now, I’ve been reluctant to suggest the new Netflix series after reading some initial less-than-stellar reviews about the show. After all, as a self-proclaimed expert in all things television (aka, I have way too much time on my hands and spend an unhealthy amount of it binge-watching TV), I pride myself on only suggesting content that I believe is worth the watch. However, since I literally cannot go on the internet without seeing some article or someone talking about this show, I’ve finally decided to give in just so I can understand what everyone is talking about.
Emily in Paris follows Emily Cooper (Lily Collins), a marketing professional from Chicago who’s given the opportunity of a lifetime when her boss becomes pregnant and opts to send young Emily in her place to head up social media at a high-end fashion agency in Paris. If this sounds unrealistic to you, you should also know that Emily speaks zero French and is apparently 22 with a master’s degree and enough experience to warrant her running an entire department. I honestly don’t know what part of this show is the least probable — all of that, or the fact that Emily consistently walks down Paris’ cobblestone streets in stilettos and never once eats it. Is this a good show? Probably not. Did I watch all ten episodes, because, let’s face it, we could all use some good ole’ Netflix escapism to a world where traveling to Paris is actually a possibility right now? You can bet your beret on it!
Stream it via Netflix.

‘Is This Anything?’ by Jerry Seinfeld
Read this if you keep a dream journal:
When inspiration strikes, it’s best to write it down. Jerry Seinfeld knows this, which is why he’s spent his entire life jotting down every funny idea he’s ever head and saved it for later. Well, it’s finally later. For his first book in a whopping 25 years, Seinfeld shares what he believes to be his best material from five decades in stand-up comedy, and the result is side-splittingly hilarious.
