ft. ‘The Prom’ & Classic Potato Latkes

Happy Hannukah, happy Friday, and happy Taylor Swift day! If you need me this weekend, please don’t — I have big plans, and by big plans, I of course mean locking myself in my room and crying while listening to Evermore. In other news, Colin Kaepernick wants to change the world one scoop at a time and if you’re planning on Keeping Up With the Kardashians into the new year, you may want to invest in a Hulu account. (Or continue mooching off of your ex’s.)

However you’re planning on spending your weekend, enjoy these quarantivities!

‘Freeform’s 25 Days of Christmas’

Watch this because we’re all home alone this season:

Want to know where you can get your holiday movie fix? Look no further — Freeform has you covered! Freeform’s 25 Days of Christmas is in full swing, meaning once again the channel is streaming all the holiday #content we need nearly 24 hours a day, every day until Christmas.

Some highlights from this year’s slated lineup include Christmas with the Kranks, Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, (Halloween movie or Christmas movie — you decide), and of course, the official movie of 2020: Home Alone. You can stream Freeform via your cable provider or their app, so grab some hot cocoa, put on your favorite holiday onesie, and get your fill of all your festive favorites. And before you ask, no, Diehard is NOT on the schedule. Diehard is not a Christmas movie and will never be a Christmas movie, so stop trying to make it a Christmas movie!!

Stream it via Freeform.

The Prom’

Watch this if you listen to the High School Musical and/or Glee soundtracks when you’re alone in your car:

Who doesn’t love a good musical? With two and a half hours of straight glitz, glam, and Meryl Streep, Ryan Murphy’s The Prom is a must-watch for all fans of any of the above. Based on the 2018 musical of the same name, The Prom centers around Dee Dee Allen (Meryl Streep) and Barry Glickman (James Corden), Broadway stars who are desperate to save their careers after being labeled as narcissists “who can’t even make a hit” by the NY Times. So naturally, they do what any celebrity does when their reputation takes a beating: they devise a PR stunt.

After deeming solving world hunger too large a feat, the two stumble upon a news article online about a teenage girl in Indiana whose high school canceled its prom to prevent her from taking her girlfriend as her date. With the help of chorus girl Angie Dickinson (Nicole Kidman) and actor-turned-bartender Trent Oliver (Andrew Rannells), they descend upon the small town, armed with sequined wardrobes and all the wrong intentions. If you’re in need of some good ole’ fashioned Zazz this weekend, then this one’s for you!

Stream it via Netflix.

Quarant-reads

‘Admission’ by Julie Buxbaum

Read this if you watched Olivia Jade’s Red Table Talk:

Inspired by the very real college admissions scandal that went down earlier this year, Admission tells the story of Chloe Wynn Berringer, a high school teenager whose seemingly perfect life suddenly comes crumbling down after her mother is arrested for bribing Chloe’s dream college into accepting her. Feeling betrayed and confused, she must not only come to terms with her new reality but grapple with her own guilt, as the public and prosecutor are eager to blame anyone involved. Sound familiar? I wonder if Olivia Jade has this one on her December reading list…
