ft. ‘Outer Banks’ & Next-Level Homemade Pizza
Welcome to the weekend! The Olympics are almost over, but don’t worry — you can catch the winter Olympics in a mere 6 months, so there are still plenty of opportunities for you to be reminded how physically inferior you are on the horizon. Just wait — when TV show bingeing is finally recognized as a sport, Team USA will banging down my door begging me to participate! Thankfully, there’s plenty of #content for me to practice on until then, so if you need me, I’ll be on my couch honing my craft. It’s hard being this athletic.
However you’re planning on spending your weekend, enjoy these quarantivities!

‘Outer Banks Season 2’
Watch this to find out if you’re a Kook or a Pogue:
At this point in my life, spring of last year pretty much feels like a fever dream. Any memories my brain hasn’t managed to shut out from March to mid-May are a hazy mess of tigers, puzzles, and half-baked sourdough — all things that I, along with the vast majority of the world, have happily left in 2020. I will admit, however, that there are some things I’m okay with everyone carrying into 2021. Properly washing one’s hands, for example. Also, having your Postmates driver leave your food at the door, instead of actually ever having to interact with them. Genius. But perhaps most importantly, the brilliantly addicting Outer Banks, which Netflix first gifted to us last April.
If you’re unfamiliar with the show, it centers around teen John B, whose luscious locks almost make up for his absurd name. Almost. After stumbling upon a clue tied to the Royal Merchant, a ship rumored to have sunk and vanished back in 1829 — along with the casual $400 million in gold it had aboard, John B recruits his three closest friends (and a new steamy love interest) to join him on the treasure hunt of a lifetime. Now, the gang’s back for another action-packed season and although I don’t want to ruin anything, I will say that this one may pack in even more adventure, teen hormones, and good hair days than the first.
Stream it via Netflix.
Quarant-reads
‘Billy Summers’ by Stephen King
Read this if you’re a fellow Stephen King-stan:
If you know me, you know I’m a sucker for Stephen King. So obviously, I have to suggest everything he puts out, including his latest release Billy Summers. Although I haven’t gotten a chance to read it yet, it seems very Dexter-meets-Barry-esque, both of which I’m here for. Billy Summers is a hitman, but he’s not your average hitman. He only takes out the “bad guys,” but even that’s become too much for him and he’s ready to call it quits…after completing one last job, that is. Of course, things don’t go as planned (do they ever?) and in proper King fashion, the twists keep coming, so you’re forced to keep the pages turning. Who said a summer read had to be a cheesy romance about two best friends on vacation?

Blackberry Brier via Betches:
Make this if you think whiskey isn’t a summer drink (you thought):
Ingredients
- 2 oz Nelson’s Green Brier Tennessee Whiskey
- 1 oz blackberry syrup
- .5 oz lemon juice
- .25 oz vanilla syrup
- 3 dashes peach bitters
How TF To Make It
The ingredients shopping might be tricky, but the actual preparation is not. I mean, who knew most of making fancy drinks is just combining things into a shaker and straining?? That’s exactly what you do here—throw all this sh*t into your strainer, then add ice. Shake until everything is chilled, or until your arms are too tired to continue. Whichever comes first. Strain into a rock glass over pebble ice (if you’re cool enough to have that at home, otherwise, any shape of ice will do) and garnish with a lemon wheel.
